The Parish Council looks after the interests of the community of Somerton. It deals with the District and County Council on local issues such as highways, traffic, housing, rights of way and street lighting the Children’s Play area and it is consulted on all local planning matters.
Parish Councils are part of the local government system and work closely with District and County Councils to help ensure that the services in the village are maintained and developed. Representatives from the District and County Council often attend Parish Council meetings.

Village Hall: Tuesday 29 January, Tuesday 26th March – 7:15pm
Church: Monday 3rd June, 29th July & 24th September 7:15 pm
Village Hall: Tuesday 26th November – 7:15pm
Any changes to these dates will be notified on the website, through our Email list and village Notice boards.
All villagers are very welcome to attend. The agenda is posted on the website and village notice boards at least three days before the meeting and will confirm the date of the next meeting.
Mid-Cherwell Neighbourhood plan
Over the last three years the Parish council have been represented on the Mid Cherwell Neighbourhood Plan Forum, The plan has recently been approved by the external examiner with some minor changes and is now with Cherwell District Council pending their final approval.
